Please tell me it’s my new Lambda sensor!!!!

I fitted the new Lambda sensor in the car today from ‘VAG Parts’ (034 906 265 F, direct off their web page for my car) but although the car started up OK and drove alright when cold, once the engine was warmed up, (A good bit of progressive driving on the M2 today) the idle is nearly double what it was before (1500 rpm compared to 800 rpm(ish)), it runs very rough and was limiting boost to about ‘1.2 to 1.3 bar’ under partial throttle in top gear. Give it WOT and it goes sort of OK but not like it was before. ((Still a bit rough though)(It just needed the wastegate spring setting correctly before I changed the Lambda sensor. So, it is definitely the new Lambda that has caused the really rough running when hot))

I know I have to ‘tune in’ the wastegate to get rid of the wastegate creep after replacing it but I did not think my car was this out of tune!!!

The new Lambda sensor definitely has shown up the poor state of tune of my car. I am hopping a tune up will cure the off-set that was obviously dialled into my car to cater for the old (112000 mile) Lambda probe, the dubious wastegate top cover and other issues that I have cured with the help of everybody off the forum.

Please, Please, Please tell me this is the case and a good old tune up will bring it all back to what it should be??? (Or better!!)

I am having all the injectors out on Sunday to have them overhauled and I will be replacing all the seals as well.

I just hope the service, MOT and especially the engine tune up, makes a huge difference to the car after all the work (And expense) I have gone to, please!!!

Was the ground cable disconnected from the battery when you changed the sensor.
It will reset the ecu for learned values. You can also do the reset on the ecu fuse just upside of the motronic.
Now quattro less, my urs4 stolen 13.8

So I should disconnect the battery for an hour or so? (Or even over night?)

        Answer.

I did not disconnect the battery when I changed the Lambda sensor but I have now.

I will leave the battery disconnected over night.

Are the symptoms I have stated typical of not ‘zeroing’ the ECU memory by disconnecting the battery or will it still need a heavy tune up?
        P.S.
        Thanks for the help.
